Al's Lab
Created as a prototype to meet an academic brief for an educational chemistry game, Al's Lab is a factory-puzzle game for mobile, in which the player needs to build production lines of chemicals. The game features real chemical reactions, real apparatus, and real principles. I worked as game designer on this project - researching chemistry and designing levels - while also programming some UI and gameplay features (Unity, C#).
Our team needed to create a demo for a game suitable for primary school/undergraduate chemists. We worked in partnership with our client at St. Andrews University to stay true to synthetic chemistry, and to represent key concepts that students need to understand (such as separator funnels). Al's Lab was produced in a team of three, over a five-day development period.
