Learning Curves
Analytics
Additionally, I worked with a classmate (http://olivervsmith.com/) who was developing a position-tracking analytics tool. After he'd integrating this software into my project, I was able to take a closer look at how players were approaching my puzzles.
The 'Circle Puzzle' project was produced in my 3rd year University research module, which I chose to spend investigating learning curves. It was developed with C#, Unity.
After creating a simple puzzle game with a variety of levels, I used a combination of surveys and analytics to iterate on how the game's difficulty progression was composed, by changing levels and adding new ones.
Applied research in User Experience design, particularly with difficulty progression and implicit tutorials.
Programmed puzzle mechanics and implemented level designs.
Used surveys, playtests, and analytics to review the game's UX.
